Andrew Zettler is an American illustrator, cartoonist and writer originally born the fifth of six children in Anchorage Alaska.
He now calls the outskirts of Washington DC home where he lives with his wife Melissa, daughter Julia, and a moderately stubborn beagle.
He is a member of the New York Society of Illustrators, the creator of the Kangaroo Court comic strip found on the Universal Press Syndicate’s Go Comics Network, former editor of Metro Home & Living magazine, and his work has appeared in syndication, advertising campaigns, and magazines around the country ranging from the Miami Herald to The Funny Times.
From a cat in a hat knocking at the front door, to Mike Mulligan and his trusty steam shovel, he counts his early childhood encounters with books, along with the animation of Chuck Jones and Warner Brothers as primary influences on his work.
In his own words, “My love affair with books started long before I could even read the words on my own, and I think that’s a testament to the power of children’s books in general. Not just their longevity, but their capacity to spark young imaginations in ways that pay a lifetime’s worth of dividends. For me, The Teeniest Tiniest Yawn is simply an extension of my love for the genre in general, both the playful language and the wonderful opportunities for the art.”
